Healthcare has always been a dynamic business environment in the Gulf & the Middle East. The engines driving this environment in the pharmaceutical market are innovative medicines, the arrival of generic drugs, increased competition and the new trends towards self-medication (over-the-counter drugs).

The hospital supplies and the medical equipment market are escalating aggressively the growth curve during the last few years.

Great investments in the infrastructure parallel great expansion
in the healthcare services. Opening new departments in the main governmental hospitals as well as the huge investments in the private hospitals paved the way for this growth.

Dubai has unveiled plans for a US $1.8 billion "health city" to tap into the lucrative medical and healthcare needs of almost 2 billion people who live between Europe & Eastern Asia.

Dubai Healthcare City (DHC) aims at transforming Dubai into a hub of world-class healthcare in the region. The project to be completed by 2010, will include a campus comprising a 300-bed university hospital, medical college, nursing school, center for life science research, up to 40 clinics and private hospitals and specialized laboratories.

The Ministries of Agriculture & Fisheries and the Ministry of Health in the Gulf region give great attention to animal wealth by developing high-tech veterinary clinics & hospitals and encourage the registration of quality veterinary products and equipment.
